Dear Friends and Users of NDB,

	We would like to inform you that starting January 1, 1996, data for
crystal structures of oligonucleotides will be deposited directly with the
Nucleic Acid Database (NDB).  


The following guidelines should be followed when depositing your data.

1. Deposition Components:
-------------------------

Coordinates: 
------------ 
Coordinates should be submitted by electronic mail.  The preferred format for
coordinates is the PDB file format.


Deposition form:
----------------

At present, the PDB deposition form may be used.  The full version and a
shortened version of the deposition form appropriate for nucleic acid
deposition is available at the NDB World Wide Web home page and at the NDB ftp
server:

WWW:  http://ndbserver.rutgers.edu (Click on the keyword 'Direct Deposition')

anonymous ftp:  ftp ndbserver.rutgers.edu
                >cd pub
                >get dep_form.v95  (full PDB version)
             or
                >get dep_form.ndb  (shortened version for NAs)


Manuscript:

The paper (p)reprint should be sent via facsimile or air mail.  Its content is
essential for structure checking.  


Structure factors:

Structure factors, if submitted, may be submitted in any format.

3. Procedures:

NDB structure ID code: 
---------------------- 
An NDB ID code will be assigned after all three required components of
the depostion (coordinates, deposition form, and preprint) have been
submitted.


Author's proof:
--------------- 
The author will receive the processed file in PDB format to review and to give
permission for release.


Archiving: 
---------- 
The structure will be placed in the NDB as soon as the author gives permission
for release.  The file will be sent to PDB for inclusion in the PDB archive.
